The Art of Problem Solving: Becoming More Creative

In business, where the landscape is forever changing, the most consistent trait among successful leaders and entrepreneurs is their problem-solving ability. From startup challenges to scaling hurdles, the ability to navigate complexities determines the longevity and relevance of a business in its respective industry.
Consistent Problem solving happens at the intersection of three competencies: technical mastery, business acumen, and creativity. Each one of these dimensions can be developed further to ensure the improvement of our problem-solving skills. Technical knowledge can be reinforced through training and a hands-on approach, while business understanding can be acquired through conversations and discussions during conferences and trade shows.
What about creativity?
Stanford Professor, Author, and TEDx Speaker Tina Seeling introduces a model for creativity named the Innovation Engine: the inner elements consist of knowledge (acting as fuel), imagination (which converts knowledge into notions), and attitude (the ignition). Externally, there are resources (assets within the community), habitats (settings like the workplace or home), and culture (comprising beliefs, values, and actions).
